The 40ft BaseFrame is the all-rounder for almost all transportation requirements.
With a loading length of 12,344mm (bogie pivot distance = 8,068mm), a tare weight of 4,380kg and for a total wagon weight of 100 tons, the 40ft BaseFrame is the backbone of the modern transport unit.
The BaseFrame is compatible with all Y25 bogies and brake systems. 
The 40ft BaseFrame is designed as a modular wagon platform and corresponds to the F-1 wagon category in accordance with EN 12663-2. The frame is approved in accordance with Directive (EU) 2016/797 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 11 May 2016 on the interoperability of the rail system within the European Union, as amended by Directive (EU) 2020/700 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 25 May 2020.
With a minimum wagon weight of 16 tons, the 40ft BaseFrame is designed for a payload of up to 84 tons (100 tons total wagon weight).
In addition to the UIC single and line loads of up to 76 tons, containers (1x40ft / 2x20ft / 4x10ft / 3x10ft+2x5ft) can also be transported.
The loading height for container pins is 1,155mm, for all other UIC loads and superstructures (UIC 571 / EN 12663-1 & 2 / DVS 1612, as well as DIN EN 12663-1 – 6.1 & 6.2.2 & 6.3.1 & 6.3.2 & 6.3.3 & 6.4 & 6.6.4 and DIN EN 12663-2 – 7.6.2 & 7.3.2 (attachments: Loading equipment racks UIC Load Band 1 point 1.2 Loading example) 1.135mm. The 40ft BaseFrame is made of 8mm and 12mm thick sheets in S700MC.
Each wagon requires 8.5 panels (6×1.5m – sheet thickness 8mm) and 3 panels (3×1.5m – sheet thickness 12mm).
The wagon is manufactured using 95 bends.
Only 55 of the total of 336 individual parts require processing (including weld seam preparation), the majority of the components can be processed directly from the laser.
Less than 90 kg of welding rod is needed to produce a 40 ft BaseFrame frame.
With a component weight of 4,380kg, the 40ft BaseFrame is one of the lightest and easiest wagon frames to manufacture .
